Alternative Transportation to OAK

Car services
When getting to or from the airport, car services are definitely one of the more luxury options. Public transportation

BART Trains
If you’ve taken public transit in the Bay Area, then you know about the BART system. Running every 6 minutes from the airport, the BART trains are a handy way to get to or from OAK. BART runs to a variety of Bay Area cities including Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco.

Amtrak
There is an Amtrak station next to the Oakland Airport called the Oakland Coliseum/Airport station. The Capitols train runs from San Jose to Sacramento and stops at the Oakland Coliseum/Airport Station and the Jack London Square Station in Oakland. From the Jack London Square Station, you can access two other Amtrak trains: the Coast Starlight and the California Zephyr.

AC Transit
There are three buses that serve the Oakland Airport. Bus Line 73 stops at the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART station. Bus Line 21 goes to Alameda and Oakland Fruitvale. For late-night service when the other two buses no longer run, Bus Line 805 takes passengers to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART station as well as downtown Oakland.

Picking Up At OAK
No need to circle back around the airport time and time again because of a “no curbside parking” rule when picking someone up at the airport. Inside OAK
Although OAK isn’t a big airport, it has enough to keep you entertained for a while. There’s a golf course right next to the Oakland airport, and you’re in luck: Golf rentals are free. There are also art displays in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 throughout the airport.

Mamava lactation suites can be found past the security checkpoint in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The suites are lockable and give mothers access to charging outlets, a fold-down table, and two benches.

With several different coffee shops, including Starbucks and Peet’s Coffee, throughout the airport, there’s no need to fear a caffeine shortage. The Oakland airport also has different restaurants and grab-and-go options as well as a food court in Terminal 2.
